Affirmations
Using affirmations, or positive instructions, is one of the most powerful things you can
do to help yourself, it really works because...
- The thoughts you think affect you immediately.
- The thoughts you think affect how your body feels and functions.
- If you often tell yourself you are a weak and useless person - you will be.
- When you tell yourself you are strong, calm and confident - you will be.
Positive thoughts affect your muscles, your posture, how all your internal organs act and they enhance the production of endorphins, your body's own natural painkillers.
Using Affirmations
It's helpful to write your affirmations on separate cards or as a list. Read them often throughout the day, first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Notice the changes they make - small at first, but growing stronger every day. Don't be impatient, keep going.
Effective Affirmations
Affirmations can be most effective when you give them as instructions to yourself - rather like an order.
Affirmations with your Breath
- On the in-breath: "Breathe in peace."
- On the out-breath: "Breathe out and smile."
Affirmations for Daily Use
- "Be still - this will pass." (wonderful for when the pain flares up)

- "I love and approve of myself."
