Is Relaxation in your Tool Kit?

Relax...

Are relaxation techniques and sessions part of your pain relief 'tool kit'?

There are many reasons why relaxation needs to be part of your daily pain management plans. During a relaxation session it is well proven that as your body relaxes and softens, endorphins, your body's own natural feel-good agents, are released - and stress, tension and pain melt away.

Relaxation techniques will take your mind away from everyday problems and stresses and bring peace of mind, better health and well-being. Deep relaxation allows tension and stress to float away, leaving you calm and more comfortable.

Relaxation techniques can…

Release endorphins your body's own natural 'feel-good' agents

Lift your spirits

Lower blood pressure

Slow heart and breathing rate

Enhance your immune system

Give better ability to handle challenges in life

Relax muscles

Increase blood flow, nourishing all parts of your body

Increase energy

Relieve stress-related health problems

Induce a deep sense of peace and calm

Give a confidence boost

Reduce general stress - and, best of all,

Relieve pain!

PLUS

The pleasure of creating an enjoyable and therapeutic space in your day that's just for you. Deep relaxation improves health and gives the mind a holiday.

Convinced of the benefits? I hope so! Here's what happens during a session.

Deep relaxation, the key to pain and stress relief

When you are relaxing you gradually feel heavy, warm and comfortable or perhaps very light, as though you are floating. You may even become unaware of your body altogether. Your mind slows down and you feel very peaceful and calm. Once you have experienced these sensations and the benefits they bring, you will want to use this technique on a regular basis.

You can gain deep relaxation in many ways, usually by focusing on your breath or some other object, by contracting and releasing muscles, or by focusing on each part of your body in turn and allowing it to soften and let go as in the session described below.

Your ability to relax increases every time you practice.

Practice every day until you can regain peace and comfort at will.

Your job each and every day is to set aside some time for yourself, at least 10-15 minutes, once, twice or more as your special relaxation time. This special time is just as important as remembering to take any medication!

It worked for me!

Ashley, a PainSupport member in the UK, says,

"Hi, I have recently discovered Body Stress Release and I thought PainSupport members might like to know about it too. I was browsing online for my own sciatica problem so thought this was relevant as it helps tight muscles and pain to be relieved."

Keep Smiling…

From PainSupport's forum:  'Laughter is the Best Medicine'

I was in the public toilets and had just closed the door when a voice from the next cubicle said "Hi, how are you?"

Embarrassed, I said, "I'm doing fine".

The voice said "So what are you up to?"

I said, "Just doing the same as you!"

From next door, "Can I come over?"

Annoyed, I said "Rather busy right now."

The voice said, "Listen, i will have to call you back, there's an idiot next door answering all my questions."
